Caturday Thoughts – Changes for the New Year

The New Year’s changes have already started in the cat world as well. This week Nita had to tell the person she had taking care of the cats at Petsmart it was the end of the line. There had been problems for a a long time and then the last straw fell on the pile. The intake on the new kittens was plagued with problems. I had to drive home last Saturday afternoon to get my stock of Revolution when one of the kittens turned up with fleas. This should have been checked for before she was put in there. As a result all the cats in the Petsmart cubbies had to be treated. Of course, Nita wasn’t advised of this until all the vets were closed, hence my ride. Then it took this woman over four hours to get to the store, we were close to closing before she got her butt in gear and came to get the stuff. Before this, another kitten had been reported by the Petsmart people as having for some reason having lost all it’s fur on the back end, poor thing. It had to be pulled. These kinds of things could endanger our being able to use Petsmart. It had to stop,

Then on Christmas Eve afternoon she called me for help. Petsmart called to say one of the kittens who had just been spayed was bleeding from her incision. Petsmart was closing early and would be closed all day Christmas. Of course the vets offices were on the same schedule. So of course I said I would take in little Sage until she could get a vet appointment. Her appointment was Friday and the incision had separated slightly. It looked like she scratched and caught a claw with the suture was knotted. By the time she got to the vet a pea sized fluid filled bump needed to be drained. She got a prophylactic antibiotic shot but otherwise the vet said she should be fine but should stay with me a few more days. She is in a large cage to keep her from moving around too much, on a rolling table in teh hall outside the bedroom so I can hear her and she can see the other cats.
