It was a very frustrating sort of day today. So I put on some Celtic music, trying to get in a Lammas mood. It helped immensely. By the time I’d fed the cats I was starting to unwind and then the CD ended. I sat in front of the computer trying to decide whether to put on more music when the wind moved my neighbor’s wind chimes. They really sound beautiful, but they are right up against the house and most time the breeze doesn’t reach them. They only rang a few seconds, I’d say, but it was enough to stop me from putting on more music. Then the night insects began. It is a very faint soft sound, just on the edge of hearing. The air is still, the people are indoors shut up with their air conditioning, and it is blissfully, wonderfully quiet. What a rare gift. Happy Lammas, kitties who don’t celebrate grain harvests. Happy Lammas, soft chorus of night wings. Happy Lammas, tired, frustrated me, feeling peaceful at last as dusk slips into darkness.
